A beautiful fish poster from the work “British Fishes”. The author is Robert Hamilton, a British naturalist and author of the 19th century. He specialized in detailed illustrations of fish and other aquatic animals.
The poster shows trout in various stages of development.
The work was published in 1843 by W. H. Lizars of Edinburgh. The Naturalist's Library series, to which this book belongs, was run by Sir William Jardine, a Scottish naturalist and publisher. Jardine acted as editor and organizer of the entire series, taking care of the quality and selection of authors and illustrators.
